Holy Mother Church presents us the feast of All Saints to instruct us. For each saint has a particular virtue to teach. But the lesson we should draw from this day is that there is a quality common among all of them: a desire to love Our Lord and serve him above all else.

A Christian without suffering is a contradiction. Yet even in the midst of hardships we constantly want to turn against those around us. To judge that those in our lives have not done something well, have not endured like we believe they should, all the while not accepting the trials in our own lives.

In the face of the evil we meet in the world, we are often tempted to pray that Our Lord will rid us of it. But we must endure it for God allows these afflictions to happen for our own benefit, even if we fail to understand them as they occur.

We often disregard the presence of the devil as a fantasy or myth. But that only makes us more susceptible to demonic influence. We let our guard down and that is why we must remain vigilant through prayer in order to not fall prey to his influence. 📺 View / Listen to this Sermon on…

It is an axiom of the spiritual life that God only rewards His own work. Yet our nature rebels against God’s work, for we believe we know better. Even when we believe we are surrendering our will, we often do so with caveats and reservations.

Forgiving others from the heart, which is true forgiveness, proves difficult for many. We often place obstacles that thwart our willingness to forgive, with the two greatest being anger and pride.

By raising marriage to the dignity of a sacrament, Our Lord made it a pathway to salvation. For each sacrament is a sign of a sacred reality and also has the capacity to cause that sacred reality. Moreover, marriage possess the graces to make one a saint.

The tragic loss of Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais provides an opportunity to reflect on his life of service to the Church and his fidelity to Catholic Tradition. The virtue of fidelity that Bishop Tissier modeled is important for all Catholics, for it is nothing less than remaining true to the promises we have made and keeping them even in the face of adversity.

The books of Maccabees serves as an inspiration for Catholics today. At a time when the religion of God was being persecuted and there was a strong temptation to compromise with the powers of that day, there rose up those who refused to tarnish the faith of their ancestors and heroically defended their loyalty to God against the encroachment of paganism.

Vocations are the main Marian grace for they correspond to the mission of Our Lady. Just as Our Lady willingly gave of herself to serve God, so, too, must those called to the priesthood and religious life be willing to dedicate themselves fully to Our Lord. Through the Blessed Virgin’s example and prayers, these men and women will have the grace to persevere in their vocations.
