Crisis Series #10 with Fr. Franks: Modernist Infiltration – The Beginnings

This episode, we’re joined by Fr. Paul-Isaac Franks, Professor at St. Mary’s College, as we begin our study of Modernism, by looking at the background of this error. First, we’ll see how it sprang up in Protestant theology, then, how Modernism tried to give an entirely new interpretation of scripture and the Divinity of Our Lord, and finally, how these errors spread into the minds of some Catholic theologians in the late nineteenth century. By the end, we’ll see how these theologians would be extremely influential in the minds of churchmen throughout the twentieth century, and beyond.
